Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a facial plastic surgery procedure in which the structure of the nose is changed. Nasal rhinoplasty surgery can help patients who are self-conscious or concerned about the appearance of their nose, patients with unfavorable anatomy, previous trauma, or previous surgery that result in long-term, consistent trouble breathing through the nose.

Reasons to Consider Rhinoplasty

  • Trouble breathing through the nose
  • Deviated septum
  • Nasal trauma caused by accident or illness
  • Aesthetic appearance of the nose
  • Dorsal hump appearance

Rhinoplasty Steps: Consultation to Follow-Up

Identify Your Concerns: Determine your goals for surgery, whether it is improved breathing, size, shape or a combination

Research Plastic Surgeons: Look for a qualified, board-certified surgeon. You can use tools such as online reviews and before and after photos to help narrow your search.

Book Consultation: It is important to feel comfortable with your surgeon. Voice your true concerns and expectations and your surgeon will provide ideas of realistic and possible outcomes of surgery.

Schedule Your Surgery: Pick a time that is good for you and family. Consider time off work (plan to take around 1 week off) and remember that swelling and bruising are common, so don't schedule too close to big events.

Prepare For Surgery: Arrange support for before and after your procedure to set yourself up for a smooth recovery.  Arrange for help with small children and pets and planning easy meals. Stock up on icepacks and saline spray and plan plenty of time to rest.

Arrive For Procedure: Make sure to follow all instructions of food and drink prior to your rhinoplasty. Be familiar with address, location and time or procedure. Let the staff get you settled, comfortable, and ready

Rest After Surgery: The first couple of days after surgery you will want to rest. This is important to help the body heal and minimize bruising/swelling.

Follow Post-Surgical Instructions: Care is quite straight forward after the procedure, but make sure you are comfortable with the post-op regimen to ensure best healing.

Attend Regular Follow-Up Visits: Follow up visits are important to ensure that everything is healing well and that you get the best possible result.

Enjoy Your New Nose: Be patient. Swelling recovery differs depending on your specific procedure. Follow-up regularly with your surgeon and address any concerns you have.
