Schedule Your Child’s School Physical or Well Check Now
Wednesday, March 30, 2022
Regular visits with your pediatrician are an important part of monitoring the overall health of your child. These visits are a time to review and discuss important areas of your child's development - physical, social, emotional and cognitive.
Depending on your child's age, it might be time to schedule a school or sports physical or catch up on a well check visit. The American Academy of Pediatrics and Boys Town Pediatrics recommend keeping your child's well checks on schedule.
School and Sports Physicals
The Nebraska State Law requires school physical exams before entering kindergarten and seventh grade. These exams must be conducted no more than 6 months before school starts in the fall.
School physicals for the 2021-2022 school year began March 1, 2022.
The Nebraska State Law requires annual pre-participation examinations for students wishing to participate in school athletics. Theses exams are slightly different than school physicals in that they pay close attention to conditions that could put your child's health at risk when playing sports, such as asthma.
Sports physicals for the 2022-2023 school year begin May 1, 2022.

Immunizations are Important
Boys Town Pediatrics recommends following the vaccination schedule set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Scheduling regular visits with your pediatrician helps keep your child on schedule, protecting them against harmful diseases.
