Post Doctoral Fellows

  • Kathleen Crum

    Kathleen Crum, Ph.D.

Dr. Kathleen Crum, PhD is a Clinical Psychologist and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Boys Town National Research Hospital’s Center for Neurobehavioral Research. She earned her doctorate from Florida International University’s Clinical Science Program in Child and Adolescent Psychology in 2016. Dr. Crum was awarded a 2014 Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Graduate Student Fellowship for her dissertation project investigating the physiological processes underlying behavior in children with conduct problems and callous-unemotional (CU) traits, as well as the role of anxiety in these relationships. Through her work, Dr. Crum strives to lay a foundation for translational research investigating the clinical, physiological, and contextual factors associated with empathic expression of children with CU traits. Dr. Crum will transition to a position as a T32-funded Postdoctoral Fellow at the Medical University of South Carolina in Fall 2017.

  • Brittany Taylor

    Brittany Taylor, Ph.D.

Dr. Brittany Taylor, PhD is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Boys Town National Research Hospital’s Center for Neurobehavioral Research. She earned her doctorate in Applied Developmental Sciences in 2017 from Colorado State University under the collaborative supervision of Drs. William Gavin, PhD, and Patricia Davies, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA. In her dissertation, Dr. Taylor developed and tested models examining the interrelationships between cognitive abilities, neural processing, and behaviors in typically-developing children performing decision-making tasks. Dr. Taylor’s research interests include understanding the complex interrelationships between brain and behavior throughout development in both typically-developing youth and youth with clinical diagnoses.

  • Laura Thornton

    Laura Thornton, Ph.D.

Dr. Laura Thornton, PhD is a Developmental Psychologist and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Boys Town National Research Hospital’s Center for Neurobehavioral Research. She earned her doctorate in Applied Developmental Psychology in 2015 from the University of New Orleans under the supervision of Paul Frick, PhD. Her dissertation examined the developmental pathway associated with CU traits and the utility of CU traits and emotional deficits in predicting later antisocial outcomes for juvenile justice-involved youth. Dr. Thornton’s research interests focus on the developmental neurobiology of CU traits as well as how CU traits affect youths’ involvement in antisocial behavior, interactions with peers, and other high risk behaviors.
