You may not be able to avoid stressful situations around the holidays but you can definitely plan to respond to them in a positive way.

Take breaks from group activities.

Pay attention to your own needs and feelings.

Spend a little time by yourself if you can. Meditate or do some relaxation breathing. Go for a short walk.

Keep a regular sleep, meal and exercise schedule and limit your alcohol.

Remember, taking care of yourself will help you deal with those stressful situations during the holidays.

Reducing holiday stress can help your holidays be full of joy. Dr. Jeremiah Gums, Internist with Boys Town Internal Medicine, gives a tip on how to reduce stress this holiday season.
