We Can Be Heroes!Memorial Day Run 2016
OMAHA, NEB. – This Memorial Day, more than 2,500 walkers and runners will participate in the annual Memorial Day Run to benefit programs and services at Boys Town National Research Hospital for children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
The Memorial Day Run will start at 8:00 a.m. with the Kids Fun Run (400 meters), followed by the 1-Mile Walk/Run at 8:15 a.m. and the 5-Mile Walk/Run at 8:45 a.m. All runners ages 10 and younger will receive a participation ribbon. Individual and discounted family registrations are available online at
Following the races, participants are invited to stay and enjoy music, food, face and hair painting, clowns, superheroes, princesses, Storm Troopers, mascots, dance demonstrations, children’s stretching activities, awards and more! All post-race activities are free.
Sponsors include Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, Baxter, COPIC Insurance, TD Ameritrade, KETV, The Reader, KISS FM and The Kat 103.7.
Baxter is getting mileage from your old shoes!
Donate new or gently worn shoes to the Memorial Day Run Shoe Drive, sponsored by Baxter. All types of adult and kid shoes are accepted. Donations will be accepted now through Thursday, May 26, at the Red Dirt Running Company during regular store hours. Donations will also be accepted at the Boys Town Skip Palrang Memorial Field House on Sunday, May 29, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Monday, May 30, 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. You will be entered to win a car detailing package from Baxter when you drop off your donation. The drawing will be held during the award ceremony of the 5-Mile/Run and you do not need to be present to win. Your shoes will be donated to local charities across the Omaha area!
