Physicians at Boys Town specialize in how chronic illness affects the adult body and can seamlessly transition your pediatric health plan to a comprehensive, coordinated adult care plan. Our primary care doctors communicate directly with your healthcare specialists and coordinate extra care, if needed.

How to Choose a Primary Care Doctor

There are many questions to ask when it comes to finding the right doctor. Here are some things you should consider.

  • Is the physician board certified?
  • What are the office hours?
  • What is appointment availability like for sick visits?
  • Where does the physician practice?
  • Who are the physicians who will care for me if my doctor is not available?

When to Transition to Adult Care

Young adults typically switch from pediatric to adult care between the ages of 18 and 21 years, or when they are ready to manage their own healthcare. At Boys Town primary care Clinics, you are welcome to schedule an introductory meeting with an internist and ask the doctor questions to make sure he or she is the right fit for you.
