Since its founding in 1977, Boys Town National Research Hospital has achieved
local, national and international prominence for research, diagnosis and treatment
of hearing, balance and speech disorders.

Otolaryngologists (ear, nose & throat physicians) provide medical and surgical care
for patients with minor ear problems as well as those with the most complicated
ear, nose or throat conditions. Each physician brings compassion and skill to their
work, whether it's treatment for a simple ear infection, or performing cochlear
implant surgery to enable a child with profound deafness to detect sound. In
addition, otolaryngologists treat cleft lip and palate, cancer of the throat and
perform nasal reconstruction.

Audiologists are equally recognized for both clinical and research programs in the identification and management of hearing loss. Highly skilled audiologists, using state-of-the-art procedures and equipment, help patients who need hearing aids. Boys Town National Research Hospital played a key role in developing newborn hearing screening technology. Research currently underway includes studies to improve methods of fitting hearing aids to children and to develop quick and accurate tests for early identification of hearing loss that do not rely on a voluntary response from the patient.

Boys Town National Research Hospital is a pioneer in the treatment of balance disorders. Individuals who suffer from dizziness, vertigo or balance disorders receive care in state-of-the-art facilities.
