The goal of the educational and media production facility is to provide useful resources and disseminate current research information to parents and professionals. The program is staffed with individuals who have expertise in computer graphics, desktop publishing, original illustrations and photographic services as well as video, DVD and web-based product development. In collaboration with professional staff (educators, clinicians, researchers and physicians innovative products are designed, created and distributed. Several key projects are supported by a grant from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders and include:

  • My Baby’s Hearing www.babyhearing.org, offering answers to the many questions parents have about the latest advances in hearing aid technology, the resources available to them in their community, parenting tips, and insight from other parents of deaf or hard of hearing children.
  • Production of DVDs that model and guide early intervention practices with deaf and hard of hearing infants and families (materials are available from Boys Town Press)
  • Completion of research with physicians and nurses to identifies knowledge needs and then creates responsive materials related to newborn hearing screening

Studios produce multi-media image and video materials in support of the dissemination of research and clinical knowledge to parents and professionals. Products to support parents focus on such topics as parenting skills, methods for reading to their deaf or hard of hearing child, hearing aid care and maintenance and other assistive devices.
