Boys Town National Research Hospital is recognized for model programs relating to childhood deafness, language and learning.
The Preschool Program has been serving children since the late 1970s. Children, three to five years of age, who have a hearing loss and require a comprehensive educational approach, are eligible for the program.
The Cochlear Implant Center serves children and adults with severe to profound hearing loss. Our staff provides an array of services related to cochlear implant evaluation and follow up treatment.
At times, individuals who are deaf and or hard of hearing may face adjustment difficulties related to their hearing loss. Boys Town National Research Hospital provides individual, group and family sessions from knowledgeable, supportive, and licensed professionals who help individuals and their family members cope with situations related to hearing loss.
Boys Town National Research Hospital offers sign language classes to families of infants, toddlers and preschool age children. Classes focus on everyday communication with children and deal with such topics as dressing, playing, going to school, etc.
Boys Town National Research Hospital provides support services for children birth to three years of age who are identified with hearing loss. Services are typically provided in such natural environments as family homes or day care settings. These services are provided through contracts with school districts in Omaha and outlying areas.
The Speech-Language Evaluation and Intervention programs address all aspects of an individual's communication. Once a communication concern is identified, clinicians work with individuals to maximize their communication and learning potential.
The multidisciplinary team offers an in-depth evaluation of the hearing, health, communication, academic, psychological and behavioral status to deaf and hard of hearing infants, children, and youth. Because every case is unique, the team makeup is different for each person and evaluations are individually tailored in order to address their specific concerns.
The Voice Clinic serves individuals with chronic voice problems. Through proper assessment, the Clinic provides effective treatment of voice disorders.
