Speech-Language and Aural (Re)Habilitation Services
We provide the following comprehensive speech-language and aural (re)habilitation services to cochlear implant candidates and recipients:
- Comprehensive pre-implant evaluation of speech, language and auditory skills.
- Comprehensive evaluation of speech, language and auditory skills in conjunction with post-operative programming appointments (annually or biannually).
- Therapy sessions designed to support regular intervention programs in the development of goals, objectives and activities (most often quarterly; can be scheduled in conjunction with programming appointments).
- Ongoing therapy services for adult and pediatric patients with hearing loss. Services for adults focus on developing auditory skills and strategies to maximize benefit with the cochlear implant. Services for pediatric patients include work to support auditory skill development while incorporating speech and language goals as appropriate.
- Academic, psychological and communication testing can be combined in a more comprehensive assessment by a multi-disciplinary team. Information derived from this form of assessment can provide valuable information regarding appropriate educational programming and communication modality choices. This service is provided at the family and/or school district’s request.
