Boys Town National Research Hospital Receives $10,000 Gift for Loaner Hearing Aid Program

Boys Town National Research Hospital received a $10,000 donation for the Loaner Hearing Aid Program, from Valero L.P. The check was presented to Patrick E. Brookhouser, M.D., Director of Boys Town National Research Hospital, by Valero L.P. General Manager of Terminal Operations Ron Simmons during a special ceremony at the Hospital at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.

“The Valero donation will support the Hospital’s Loaner Hearing Aid Program used to purchase new hearing aids that are loaned to babies and children with hearing loss within the first month of diagnosis,” according to Dr. Brookhouser. “The loaner hearing aids allow children to get started with a hearing aid while parents explore the financial options and resources to purchase hearing aids.”

Boys Town National Research Hospital established the Loaner Hearing Aid Program so that children can receive hearing aids as soon as their hearing loss is detected. More than 200 children from Nebraska, Iowa and nearby states benefit from the Loaner Hearing Aid Program.

The Valero Benefit for Children Golf Classic raised $7 million for charities in communities where Valero Energy and Valero L.P. have operations. Brian Stuart, an operator at the Valero L.P. Columbus terminal, in Columbus, NE nominated Boys Town National Research Hospital. Brian’s daughter Mia benefited from the Loaner Hearing Aid Program.
