Dr. Boosani Recognized for Cancer Research

Chandra Boosani, Ph.D., of Cell Signaling and Tumor Angiogenesis Laboratory at Boys Town National Research Hospital received the prestigious “Scholar in Training” Award from the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) at their centennial conference in San Diego, California, on April 12, 2008.

Of the 20,000 scientists who attended the conference, Dr. Boosani was one of 43 recipients recognized for their promising cancer research. In addition to this elite recognition, Dr. Boosani received $1,000 to support his research in tumor angiogenesis and to assist the Cell Signaling and Tumor Angiogenesis Laboratory at Boys Town National Research Hospital.

Dr. Boosani is currently working as a postdoctoral scientist under the supervision of Dr. Sudhakar Akulapalli, Department of Genetics at Boys Town National Research Hospital. Cell Signaling and Tumor Angiogenesis Laboratory research funds are supported by a Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute Young Clinical Scientist Award Grant.

Dr. Akulapalli has recently published Dr. Boosani’s research findings in "Blood Journal" (Blood 2007, 110, 1168-1177), a highly reputed journal with high citation factor in the Biological Sciences.
